According to team officials of the New Britain Bees, the Pirates have purchased the contract of pitcher Josh Outman, and he will report to AAA Indianapolis.
Outman was a tenth round selection of the Philadelphia Phillies back in 2005. The 31-year-old left-hander has spent parts of six seasons pitching in the big leagues for the Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees, mostly as a reliever. His career ERA is at 4.43.
In April of this year, Outman signed with New Britain, and was pitching in their rotation. He made 14 starts for the Bees where he posted a 4.23 ERA. My guess is that Outman would likely pitch in the Indianapolis bullpen.
