Indy Ball Tryouts


Here is a list of current independent baseball tryouts and instructional leagues. I will try to update as often as possible when new tryouts come to my attention. Players – be sure to bookmark this page and check back frequently!


Florida League, North East League (New Jersey), Professional Spring Training Trip.

The Black Sox baseball league has leagues in Florida and New Jersey. There will also be opportunities to join the traveling Black Sox team that plays against various professional teams during their respective spring training schedules.

The Black Sox Baseball League was created as a competitive league for players who have or are looking to obtain contracts to play professional baseball in 2019. The purpose of the league is to guide professional grade players to the destination that will allow them to advance their professional career.

The Southwest League has announced that the league will be hosting a two-day tryout on November 3rd and 4th at Prestonwood High School in Plano, TX.  Southwest league officials including the Field Managers for the Waco BlueCats, Royse City Griffins, Joplin Miners and to be named Dallas franchise will be in attendance.

The tryout will be held in at Prestonwood Christian Academy, 6801 West Park Blvd in Plano, Texas. Check in will start on Saturday November 3rd at 8:00 am. The tryout will be from 9:00am-4:00pm.  There will be several cuts made throughout the day with a handful of prospects being asked to participate in simulated games on November 4th from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

Meet A Prospect Free Agent Workout

Saturday, Dec. 1st (1-6pm – Check-in @ noon) & Sunday, Dec. 2nd (9am-3pm)

The Western League (Pecos)

The Western League is an Independent Professional Winter Baseball in the United States beginning January 2019. The League will consist of five teams, five weeks, four weeks of games and one weeking of Training Camp. The league will be completed before MLB Spring Training Report Date and will allow players to showcase themselves to be signed or resigned by Minor League Baseball Teams.

Training Camp will occur from February 1-7.

Players can group and save of housing during training camp. There will be a draft of players on February 7. Players will move into host families on February 8. Regular season will begin February 8, 2019. The league will be a four week league without a Championship Series.

The Western League will be based in Bakersfield, California. The primary stadium will be Sam Lynn Ballpark and Riverside Park.

All players who are wanting to play must register. Registration Page is here. The Western League is open to all players who are 18 and over and trying to get signed into affliated minor league baseball. There are no restrictions due to prior participation in other leagues.

The Western League will have scouts from the following traditional summer leagues:

The League will hold a league wide training tryout camp from Feb 1-Feb 6 in Bakersfield at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Opening Day is February 7, 2019.

There will be no single day tryout camps for the Western League. Players who wish to play must attend Training Camp. There will be a draft at the end of training camp. All players are eligible to tryout There are no restrictions on players based on age or previous league participation.

    1. It’s a winter league. You pay a lot of money, they promise scouts will be there, some guys get signed, most get released during spring training… honestly the same thing that happens everywhere.


    1. Those vary with different league rules. Frontier is 27. The United Shore has an age limit (I think…) and everyone else really doesn’t. The Pecos claims to have one, but older players still play in the league if approved.


  1. Hi Ms. Thompson I’m a ball player with various scholarships to play college baseball at the moment. I’m 23 years old though and my dream is to play in Japan. Will any independent Japanese Baseball League teams be hosting tryouts in America? I’m from Florida so if they were in the south that would be preferable. I’m really just trying to find the right scouting event to attend.
